The wild beauty and tangled terrain of Kaua‘i’s North Shore was made for a classic ZIPLINE COURSE. But it was also made for horseback riding, biking, hiking, kayaking, swimming and relaxing. Who can really pick just one?

The family-owned PRINCEVILLE RANCH ADVENTURES is up for any combination of these outlets.

Most recently, the company built a zipline course on its 2,500-acre property, allowing guests to marvel at spectacular ocean and mountain vistas as they zip through the air. The ultimate thrill-seeker can opt for the 1,200-foot line deemed the “King Kong,” which starts with a leap from a 26-foot-high tower and sails over the jungle.

Off-Road Express, Princeville Ranch Adventure’s newest tour, invites guests to pile in Polaris off-road vehicles for a thrilling 2.5-hour tour. A guide will drive you and up to four other passengers through the ranch’s previously inaccessible nooks and crannies. So fasten your seatbelt and put on your helmet for an exhilarating excursion through landmarks, pastures and forests of the breathtaking North Shore. Your reward? A 360-degree view of the mountains, valleys and ocean. An extended Off-Road Adventure (duration: 4.5 hours) includes a brisk hike to ziplines and a hidden double waterfall. Ages 5 and up.

The ranch also is the oldest working cattle ranch on Kaua‘i and started offering horseback rides back in 1978. Visitors can choose a stand-alone horseback tour or opt for the combo RIDE N’ GLIDE TOUR, an adventure that will take them on a half-hour horseback ride to the lines.

Another option is the 4.5-hour JUNGLE VALLEY ADVENTURE, the North Shore’s only multi-activity tour, which culminates at a stunning waterfall-fed swimming hole. Guests kayak up a gently flowing, Amazon-like jungle stream, hike through a tropical rainforest and arrive at the spectacular ULUHE FERN RIDGE, where two ziplines lead through native trees and over a waterfall. Then, enjoy jumping, swimming and floating while a picnic buffet is prepared.

The KALIHIWAI FALLS HIKE also gives guests the chance to explore the backcountry of the island, complete with incomparable views—oh, and a relaxing hydro-massage waiting for them under the falls. Begin with a hike to a 360-degree lookout, walk through a jungle filled with native and Polynesian-introduced flora, and then descend to beautiful Kalihiwai Falls for a picnic, swimming and rub down.

The company also conducts a three-hour waterfall picnic/ horseback ride and private horseback outings.

Tours are conducted daily. Reservations are required.
