Support a Soul SurferKaua‘i
Kaua‘i native and PROFESSIONAL SURFER BETHANY HAMILTON is an international sensation. While a 14-foot tiger shark may have taken her left arm during a tragic attack in 2003, Hamilton triumphed, going on to become a writer, philanthropist, activist and, most recently, the third-place winner of CBS’ 25th season of “The Amazing Race” with her husband, Adam Dirks.
In 2006, she released her autobiography SOUL SURFER, a New York Times best seller, which was made into a 2011 film of the same name. While visiting The Garden Isle, you’re likely to find her books, perfume, cosmetics and collaborative surf gear in many local shops.
Get a dose of faith and fun by booking a lesson with Hamilton’s WALKING ON WATER’S day and overnight YOUTH SURF CAMPS, designed for beginning and advanced surfers, ages 11-18. For details, visit walkingonwater.com/surf-camps.
If riding the waves inspires your charitable spirit, support the next generation of Hawai‘i leaders by donating to HAMILTON’S NON-PROFIT, FRIENDS OF BETHANY. Friends of Bethany supports and encourages SHARK ATTACK SURVIVORS and traumatic amputees through movies, projects and activities. Get involved or donate at friendsofbethany.com.
