Sip On Some Local Brews

Big IslandFood, Fun & After Dark

Craft brew fever is taking over the nation, and while Hawai‘i isn’t necessarily known as a brewery hub, there are some places for beef fans to sip some local flavor.

In Hilo, find HILO BREWING CO . (275 E. Kawili St., 808-934-8211), known for VOLCANO RED ALE and HAWAIIAN CROW PORTER . The tasting room is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesdays-Sundays.

BIG ISLAND BREWHAUS (bigislandbrewhaus.com), located in Kamuela (Waimea) is known for award-winning beers: OVERBOARD IPA , GOLDEN SABBATH and MOUNTAIN PORTER . Stop in for a meal (outdoor seated dining available in the covered beer garden) or grab a growler to go.
