Dive O‘ahu’s Crystalline Waters

Thanks to the lava that has poured into the ocean for centuries, Hawai‘i’s underwater landscape is a fascinating place to explore. With the advantage of warm water and high visibility, divers can discover a world of lava tubes, arches, caves and caverns, canyons, crevices and pinnacles. Add the occasional sunken vessel, an abundance of reef fish and scores of curious sea creatures, and every dive is nothing short of awesome.

There are several activities available for certified divers, which range from renting equipment from a dive shop and venturing out on your own to booking a ride on a dive boat for a guided tour.

While you may not travel 20,000 leagues under the sea, popular scuba diving spots to take off from include: KEWALO BASIN HARBOR in Honolulu; KO ‘OLINA MARINA out west; WAI‘ANAE BOAT HARBOR , west and beyond Ko ‘Olina; and HE‘EIA KEA PIER on the Windward side. ISLAND DIVERS HAWAI‘I , LIVING OCEAN SCUBA, WAIKĪKĪ DIVE CENTER and DIVE O‘AHU are some companies offering underwater experiences around the island.
