KAMOKILA HAWAIIAN VILLAGE is a reconstructed Hawaiian village composed of 14 thatched-roof structures, including a canoe house, a birthing house, a hula house, the chief’s assembly house and a doctor’s house.

Lush gardens also grow in the village, yielding traditional Hawaiian fruits and flowers.

In 1995, the village was used as a location for the Dustin Hoffman/Rene Russo feature film “Outbreak.” Structures from the set remain in the village.

In addition to tours, guided kayak trips are available. Call (808) 823-0559 or visit

The village is located on Kuamo‘o Road across from the OPAEKA‘A FALLS parking lot. A sign marks the paved road leading to the village, which is open daily. There is a nominal admission fee.
