Looking for a little adventure on your Oahu vacation?

“The Gathering Place,” as the island is known, offers a seemingly unlimited amount of adventurous things to do.

Here’s a list of 9 adventurous things to do on Oahu.

 

1. Hiking

One of the best ways to experience the beauty of Oahu is to go hiking.

There are a number of trails of varying difficulty levels, so there is something for everyone.

Some of the most popular trails include the Diamond Head Crater Trail, Manoa Falls Trail, Kaena Points, and the Lanikai Pillbox hike. If you’re up for a challenge, check out the steep-but-rewarding Koko Head Crater Trail (video above).

    2. Snorkeling

    Oahu is home to some of the best snorkeling in the world, with a number of beautiful reefs and a plethora of fascinating marine animals.

    Hanauma Bay is a must-visit for anyone looking to see a variety of colorful fish and coral up close. Other great spots for snorkeling include Shark’s Cove, Electric Beach, and Turtle Bay.

    3. Surfing

    Surfing is one of the most popular activities on Oahu, as the island is home to some of the best and most consistent waves in the world.

    If you’re a beginner, Waikiki Beach is a great place to learn how to surf, with calmer waves and a number of surf schools located there.

    Experienced surfaces can head out to other popular but notoriously difficult breaks such as Sunset Beach and Pipeline.

     

    4. Kayaking

    Kayaking is a great way to get in some exercise while exploring the coastline of Oahu.

    There are a number of companies that offer kayak rentals, as well as guided tours.

    One of the most popular places to go kayaking is at Kailua Beach Park, where you can paddle out to the nearby island of Lanikai. The waters are often calm here and the views are spectacular.

    Kaneohe Bay and Hawaii Kai Marina are also great options.

    5. Stand-up Paddleboarding

    Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is a great way to get out on the water and get a workout at the same time.

    SUPing is also a great way to get a different perspective of Oahu’s coastline and see some of the island’s hidden gems.

    Some popular places to SUP include Ala Moana Beach Park and Kailua Beach Park.

     

    6. Ziplining

    For those looking for a thrill, Oahu offers several ziplining courses that will give you an adrenaline rush and offer breathtaking views of the island.

    There are a number of options for ziplining on Oahu.

    Check out Climb Works Keana Farms, the island’s original zipline company and soar through the trees in Kahuku, on the North Shore of Oahu.

    7. Skydiving

    If you really want to get your heart racing, Oahu offers skydiving experiences that will not disappoint.

    There are several skydiving companies on the island that offer tandem jumps, as well as solo jumps for those with previous experience.

    You can jump from one of several skydiving locations on the island, all of which offer stunning views and the chance to create memories that will last a lifetime.

    8. ATVing

    ATVing is a great way to explore the off-road trails of Oahu.

    There are several companies that offer ATV rentals and tours, so you can choose how adventurous you want your day to be.

    Some great places to go ATVing include Kaena Point State Park, Schofield Barracks, and Waimea Valley Adventure Park.

    9. Horseback Riding

    No list of adventurous things to do on Oahu would be complete without horseback riding!

    See Oahu from a different perspective with an outing that can be both adventurous and relaxing.

    There are several stables on the island that offer trail rides, beach rides, and even sunset rides.
